Communications / Radio

D5SR Communications promotes, oversees and assists multiple radio telecommunications programs for the district.

Training that result in qualified telecommunications operators (TCO) and AUXCOM PQS. Assist USCG stations where needed in developing communications Watchstanders.
Establish Auxiliary Communications Units (ACU) both HF & VHF that are used for a network of approved fixed land, mobile, and direction-finding stations to service the USCG, AUX surface and air operations.
Supplement the USCG communications as required.
Provide District level communications as required.
Provide emergency communications in disaster situations.

Specific Communication Programs are:

Coordinating authorized Auxiliary activities in support of Coast Guard Operations ("operational communications")
Augmenting the Coast Guard communications system, when required ("contingency communications")
Communicating urgent matters of official Auxiliary business ("operational communications") Assisting national resources in time of disaster ("contingency communications")
Training and qualifying Auxiliary telecommunications operators, Coast Guard communications watchstanders
Assisting the Director of Auxiliary (DIRAUX) in inspecting and qualifying Auxiliary radio facilities (stations).
