Welcome to the Flotilla 6-3, District 1SR Web Site

Welcome to the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 6-3 (D1SR 014-06-03) Official Website.
We are the civilian uniformed volunteer component of the U.S. Coast Guard. The over-arching mission of the Auxiliary is to augment the Recreational Boating Safety Mission of the U.S. Coast Guard as well as assisting with the security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions.
Our members do participate in thousands of hours of support that directly supplements the Coast Guard’s Maritime Domain Awareness missions which include Harbor Patrols, Vessel Safety Inspections, Public Education, Radio Communications, Search & Rescue and Marine Environmental Protection, Culinary Assistance, Watch Standing at USCG Bases, Boat patrols and Aux Air Ops.
We are nestled up in Putnam County near Lake Mahopac. Boaters for all around during the summer months come up to Lake Mahopac to get away from the city crowds and enjoy time with family.
During this time we perform PA events and Vessel checks by keeping boaters informed and safe on the Lake. We are here for our ever growing Boating Community.
Our Unit Coin Logo shown has Lake Mahopac Rich History.
The Spear head is in honor of the Wappinger Indian. They were an Algonquian Speaking Tribe. The Word Mahopac stands for Lake of the Great Serpent. The Great serpent shown is called Minshi Ginabig. Thunderbirds were the protectors of the Lake. They would surround the Lake and by blinking their eyes and flapping their wings they would create lightning and thunder to fight off the great Serpent.
We have many fields of Skills to be involved in.
