Mission 

To promote and improve Recreational Boating Safety by providing exceptional boating safety education to the American public, with the aim of eliminating loss of life, personal injury and property damage, while delivering the highest quality training with the finest Auxiliary instructors and public education staff officers at every level, in support of our recreational boating safety goals and directives.

Vision

United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Public Education Directorate–the best trained, most valued maritime volunteer boating education organization in the world, along with its partners in the Districts, continuing to bring to the market innovative new products and sharing best practices and techniques with the American Public and our colleagues in the maritime arena. 

Strategy

  • Develop and/or maintain up-to-date and effective educational materials
  • Focus on the segment of the boating public most at risk Increase flotilla-taught basic boating safety education by 10% annually
  • Provide and promote ongoing quality instructor development
  • Use of appropriate technological resources
  • Adopt e-learning as a viable way to reach boaters;
  • Utilize e-learning to challenge and grow our instructor corps
  • Partner with outside organizations, when applicable, to further boating education
  • Team up with the experience and expertise of other National Directorates to provide top quality programs and courses
  • Develop a National Database Repository for Safe Boating Education Data
