Uniform Dress Khaki USCG Auxiliary circa 1950

Based on the US Navy Working Uniform Navy Uniform Reg 1941

COAT -- Coats shall be made from fast dyed, cotton khaki material.

To be a single-breasted, Three button coat, roll collar and notched lapel; to have four outside pockets, upper pockets sewed flat to coat, lower pockets to be of bellows style, each pocket to have a flap. Around the waist to be a belt 2 inches in width of the same material as the coat, to be sewed down all around. The bottom coat button to be in the middle of the belt, the three front buttons spaced approximately 3 3/4 inches apart. The back seam to have an open vent below the belt.

Although the coat was manufactured with shoulder loops for attaching shoulder boards Auxiliary did not use Shoulder boards.

Buttons - To be the standard USCG Auxiliary design in brass, the three front buttons to be 28-line and the buttons for pocket flaps to be 22 1/2 line.

TROUSERS -- Trousers shall be made of the so.me material as prescribed for coats, working uniform.

CAP -- The cap cover shall be fast dyed, cotton khaki material. The cap shall be of the same design and construction as that prescribed for Officers and Chief Petty Officers.
Shirt-The shirt shall be made of fast-dyed, cotton khaki material. The design shall be conventional withcollar attached.

TIE -- The tie shall be made from silk, rayon, woolen or worsted material, dyed a fast black. The tie shall be a four-in-hand.

Metal Pin - on Devices (Khaki Shirt) Pin-on devices shall be made of silvered white metal or gold-plated on copper base, fitted to fasten with brooch pin. USCG Auxiliary used small gold insignia.

SHOES -- Shoes shall be of black or brown leather.

This uniform belonged to Horace Griffith who was a Gunners Mate 1st Class in the USCGR (T) from 10/5/1943 through 10/4/1946. He then Reverted back to the USCG Auxiliary and wore this Uniform. Known as Dress Khaki. The insignia on the right sleeve designates his office as a Division Staff Officer
