WELCOME TO THE GRANTS PASS FLOTILLA
Guardians of Southwestern Oregon
Patrolling and Protecting the Rivers and Lakes of Josephine, Jackson, and Klamath Counties
The rivers and lakes of Southwestern Oregon--from Klamath Lake to the Rogue River--are wonderful locations to enjoy boating. To help ensure recreational boaters are safe underway is job one for the Grants Pass Flotilla, the local unit of the United State Coast Guard Auxiliary.
As an inland flotilla, we accomplish boater safety through several means. First, we offer outstanding marine education, at a nominal fee, starting with Basic Boating. The Basic Boating course results in a boater receiving their Oregon State Marine Board Boater Educational Card, a basic requirement for most boaters. Beyond that level, we offer advance boating classes as well.
Our second major boater safety effort is to offer Vessel Safety Checks (VSCs). An experienced and trained member of the Auxiliary will conduct a FREE examination of your watercraft--from paddleboards to powerboats. The examination is designed to inform the boater what equipment is needed legally as well as well as make recommendations on how to remain safe on the water.
Of course, our flotilla does much more. We work with marine dealers to distribute boating information; we safeguard our waterways through American Waterway Watch; visit boat ramps, sportsman shows, and much, much more.
