Welcome to the Flotilla 26-8, District 9CR Web Site
Our meeting Place
Normally, the St. Ignace Flotilla meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM.
Meetings are held at the U.S. Coast Guard Station in St. Ignace.
The overarching mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to contribute to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions. We will balance our missions of Recreational Boating Safety and Coast Guard Support with Maritime Homeland Security and other challenges that emerge as a result of our growing understanding of changes required in the post-9/11 era.
The overall most important goal of the Auxiliary is recreational boating safety. We must never lose sight of that as we tell the stories that make us who we are. This mission include our activities in public education, vessel safety checks, and RBS visitation. Those are an important part of our overall responsibility to promote safety on the water.
The mission statement is also sensitive to our responsibilities as to our role in supporting our Coast Guard active duty shipmates. For many years we have had the authority to assist the Coast Guard in a wide range of areas. From routine ATON patrols to helping during natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, Haiti earthquake, and Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill response auxiliary members have stepped up to deploy and support the Coast Guard.
