WHO WE ARE: The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is a civilian, volunteer component of the U.S. Coast Guard primarily tasked with carrying out Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) functions. Auxiliary members perform vessel examinations, conduct boating safety courses, and can be found on the water on safety patrols or staffing a booth at a boat show. Auxiliarists also perform vital Coast Guard and Auxiliary support missions, such as standing radio watch or maintaining Auxiliary websites. A snapshot of what we do on an average day can be found by following this link: An Average Day in the Coast Guard Auxiliary

VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS: A key component of our overall mission are vessel safety checks. VSC's are provided free of charge, and are a courtesy check to help ensure that your boat is in compliance with federal standards. Depending on the size of your boat, a check takes 15 to 30 minutes, but could very well save you a lot of trouble--and more importantly, your life--later. You may also get a discount on your insurance! We will not issue you a citation if your boat doesn't pass, however, you may be subject to fines if you are stopped and inspected by law enforcement or the Coast Guard. If you would like a vessel safety check, contact Bill Seymer, our FSO-VE at oldmr.bill@twc.com, or fill out the form at this link: I Want A VSC

JOIN THE AUXILIARY! We are always seeking new members to help us carry out our missions. Membership is open to any U.S. citizen, 17 years of age or up, with a clean criminal record. Are you interested in joining a world-class organization and helping keep our waterways safe? Contact Edward Mialback our FSO-HR, at elmialback@gmail.com, or follow this link:Join the Auxiliary
