USCG Station Yankeetown is a small boat station which forms part of the US Coast Guard's 7th District, Sector Tampa/St. Petersburg. The station performs Search & Rescue, Law Enforcement and fisheries patrols utilizing 25ft Defender Class Boats. National Safe Boating Week 2017
Coast Guardsman from Station Yankeetown, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-1, family, friends, and guests kicked off this year’s National Safe Boating Week (NSBW) with a picnic Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Crystal River Preserve State Park of Florida.
At the kick-off event for NSBW, Robert Holmes, Crystal River City Councilman, presented Linda Jones, Flotilla Commander and Vincent Maida, Vice Flotilla Commander, 15-1 with a Proclamation from the city of Crystal River. The proclamation was in support of the flotilla’s efforts to educate the boating public about safe boating practices.
(Left photo) The public event included a barbecue and participation with the “WEAR IT” life jacket Safe Boating Council Campaign. In support of the “Wear-It” campaign, 38 people plus two ponies donned their life jackets for a group photo.
