Helps Prevent Tragedy And Save Lives!
The World Health Organization’s (W.H.O.) 2019 report summarizes that in the U.S.,
“Drowning is the Second Leading Cause of unintentional injury death
in children aged 1-14 years.”
Two high-risk factors are: living near open waters and flood disasters.
Together, we can improve the W.H.O. statistics -

Water 'N Kids Safety (WnKids) Class
Kids, Water, and Safety Lessons For Life:
The
US Coast Guard Auxiliary offers Water 'N Kids Safety (WnKids) classes
to empower students in Elementary Schools, Cub Scouts, Boys & Girls Clubs,
and more. Our interactive and fun WnKids classes focus on four main
objectives for safety in, on, and around water, as well as how to be good stewards of our environment.:
1. Learn to swim, swim in a safe place, swim with a "buddy", beach safety and rip current survival.
2. Wear a lifejacket.
3. Obey the boat safety rules: do not stand up, ride on the bow, or dangle arms and legs outside of the boat. Be a good lookout.
4. Know what to do in case of an emergency: ex.: boat overturns or someone falls into the water.

Sea Scouts provides opportunities for students to gain valuable seamanship training and experience, build and enhance your boating, water safety and leadership skills, inspires you to become dedicated to protecting our marine environment and waterways, and promotes good citizenship in service to your Sea Scout Ship as well as to your community. You may also qualify for Coast Guard Auxiliary Boat Crew and eventually Coxwain, as well as other remarkable responsibilities.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary has collaborated with the Boy Scouts of America’s Sea Scout program and has named Sea Scouts as its official youth program. Sea Scouts are coed students ages 14-20 years, who now have the opportunity to cross-train with the Coast Guard Auxiliary (CGAUX), to earn both Sea Scout BSA ranks and CGAUX qualifications.
