Welcome to the Flotilla 17-3, District 5NR Web Site
Serving the Tacony-Palmyra Area of Philadelphia
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded in 1939 by an Act of Congress as the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and re-designated as the Auxiliary in 1941. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is composed of uniformed, nonmilitary volunteers who assist the Coast Guard in all of its varied missions, except for military and direct law enforcement.
Flotilla 17-3 stands watch beside the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge. It serves the Coast Guard and the public by engaging in public education to promote recreational boating safety through vessel safety checks, various safe boating courses and patrols along the Delaware River.
