Chatham Lighthouse is Open for Tours
Located on the grounds of Coast Guard Station Chatham, Chatham Light has a long and rich history. You can read the complete history by clicking here.
Please use these safety guidelines and recommendations during your visit
- Children must be a minimum of 45" tall and accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
- Closed toe shoes are highly recommended. We do not recommend flips flops or sandals.
- Hold available hand railings at all times while in the lighthouse and climbing stairs.
- Backpacks are not permitted in the lighthouse. Please leave them in a secure location.
- Please see a USCG Auxiliarist to be escorted to the Lifeboat Tours, as required.

June 15 & 16 (Historic Chatham Weekend): 1pm – 3pm
July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 (Wednesdays) 1pm – 3pm
August 7, 14, 21, 28 (Wednesdays) 1pm – 3pm
September 4 & 18 (Wednesdays) 1pm – 3pm
The lighthouse’s very first keeper was appointed by President Thomas Jefferson himself to help guide ships past the town of Chatham. Climb these 44 winding steps to be rewarded by stunning, panoramic views of the picturesque surrounding water and beaches.
