Both the "U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the United States Power Squadrons have certified vessel examiners who will perform a free Vessel Safety Check ("VSC") at your boat, at a time of mutual convenience. There is no charge, and no consequences if you don't pass. Our goal is simply to help make boating as safe as possible for you, your family and your friends, through education.
Our Examiners are Highly Qualified. and equally motived to serve. We Save Lives!
No citations are issued and the results of the safety check are not reported to any enforcement agency; a decal is awarded if the vessel passes the examination. Vessel Safety Checks are performed on:
-PWCs (WaveRunner, SeaDoo, JetSki)
-Recreational Motor Boats less than 65 feet. Exams are available for vessels greater than 65 feet via Qualified USCG Inspectors.
-Kayaks Canoes PaddleBoards
-Commercial vessels which are not inspected or certified by the Coast Guard.
Items reviewed include but are not limited to:
Life Jackets, Navigation lights, Ventilation, Fire extinguishers, Distress signals MARPOL, more
Inspections can also be scheduled at your location at an appointed time. and typically less than 1/2 hour depending on vessel.

The requirements are different based on the size of you boat. The following is a list of some of the items we check:
