Return to Flotilla 11-2's Home Page.

One of the primary missions of the Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) outreach efforts for the Auxiliary and the Woods Hole Flotilla is the Vessel Safety Check (VSC) program. This courtesy check ensures that recreational boats meet, or exceed, Federal and Massachusetts regulations for safety equipment.

Below are pictures of Woods Hole Flotilla members conducting Vessel Safety Checks

In order to become qualified as a Vessel Examiner (VE), you must be Basic Qualified (BQ) however, you can begin to work towards this once you're Application Pending (AP) status.

You also need to complete the online Introduction to Risk management course 100202. Access can be found in the "Online Training & Testing" section to the left in the Member Training section.

You will also need to read the Vessel Safety Check Manual and become familiar with the Federal and Massachusetts Boating Regulations. These are found via the links below. Then, you must pass an online test (90%). Once you've accomplished that you then complete 5 supervised VSCs with a qualified VE. Once these 5 are complete, they are entered into AUXDATA,

Once you are in AUXDATA as BQ and show as completing the Intro to Rick Management online course, you will become qualified as a Vessel Examiner (VE) in AUXDATA and you will be able to conduct VSCs on your own.
