USCG Auxiliary Buttons

Uniform and Insignia Specifications from 1955 Auxiliary Manual CG-305:

"Buttons were made of brass 0.016 inch thick, circular with a convex front of first quality gilt, with a modified emblem of the Auxiliary stamped in gold-colored metal on the surface with a hard die. The sizes of the buttons are 24 and 36 line, the equivalent of 6/10 and 9/10 inch respectively. The back of the button is made of soldering brass, 0.016 inch thick and slightly convex. The eye is made of copper or brass wire 0.057 inch thick, approximately ¼ inch in height, swedged [i.e: folded under] and hard-soldered to the back."
