What we've been doing
Patriotic Festival |
On 28 May 2022, Flotilla 59 assisted the Coast Guard and Norfolk Police Department by patrolling the area off Hospital Point for the Patriotic Festival. The facility, Pressure Relief, was crewed by Chuck Mullen and George Langdon from Flotilla 59 and Patricia Eldredge from Flotilla 31. Our primary mission was to remind boaters of the 5 MPH speed limit in the area off Waterside and to render emergency assistance if needed. We performed our patrol in the late afternoon and early evening. |
Joint operations with Suffolk Fire Department |
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary 59 in Smithfield recently participated in joint emergency towing operations with Suffolk Fire Department Engine 9. The event was to familiarize and train firefighters assigned to their newly acquired multi purpose vessel for use in various emergency situations in the tidewater area of operations. |
2021 Smithfield Christmas Parade |
Auxiliarists Mark Middlecoop and George Langdon participated in the 2021 Smithfield Christmas Parade.
