PPE Inspection Process
Note from the D11S OTO:
Inspections must be completed by the same day of the month as your last inspection. You can perform your gear inspection on the first day of the month and record it in ADII. However, if you miss the inspection deadline, you will be placed in REYR, and all your PPE gear will need to be taken out of service. You will then have to rebuild your gear according to the MPCs before putting it back into service. So, make sure to stay on schedule!

STEP 1: Personal Inspections

Each piece of your PPE should be inspected personally, according to each of the PPE MPC(Maintenance Procedure Card) for that PPE item.

To ensure you have the latest MPC for each PPE item, you should check the Rescue & Survival Systems Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPC) Library in AD2 prior to your inspection as follows...

  • Log into AuxData II
  • From the TOP menu select "More" then choose "Files".
  • From the LEFT menu select "Libraries"
  • Select Rescue & Survival Systems Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPC)
  • Locate & download the MCP associated with your specific PPE

PLB Monthly Tests:
If you have a PLB, this must be tested monthly and recorded onto the
KB0040.x Tracking Record which needs to be presented to the Qualified Inspector at your semi-0annual inspection for approval.  The KB0040.x Tracking Record can be found in the aforementioned Rescue & Survival Systems Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPC) Library.

For additional reference you may view the USCG PPE Inspection Video. NOTE: This video is for USCG PPE inspections and not all information may be applicable to your USCG AUX PPE.

STEP 2: Qualified Inspections

For each inspection cycle, it is the member's responsibility not only to ensure that the required inspections occur, but to provide the inspector with their PPE Inspection Standard Issued PPE Form, having the top section and first two columns completed where applicable. form. We recommend that you download this form and have a completed copy ready to go for each required inspection period.
