Leadership Competency Certification is the process by which an individual demonstrates the knowledge, experience, and skills required for effective leadership. This demonstration is validated through a certificate earned by meeting the established requirements for each competency level. It is important to note that certifications serve as evidence of one’s abilities or knowledge, rather than simply a formality.

The Leadership Competency Certification demonstrates to both members and the Chain of Leadership and Management (COLM) that you are a committed, well-trained, and professional leader. It provides confidence in your leadership abilities and knowledge, making you a more valuable asset to the Auxiliary. Earning this certification also opens doors to leadership advancement opportunities and gives you a competitive edge over other candidates who are not certified.

Requirements for Level 1 Leadership Competency Certification:

  • Core Training (including Basic Qualification Course II (BQCII)
  • Leadership Competency - Level 1 Test
  • Auxiliary Administrative Procedures Course (APC)
  • Auxiliary Flotilla Leadership Course (AFLC) - on-line or in classroom
  • FEMA Effective Communications (IS-242.series)

Effective 1 February 2022 provide your IS Officer a copy of the FEMA IS-242 completion certificate so it can be entered into AUXDATA II.

Verify with your IS Officer that all other training has been recorded in AUXDATA II as you complete the requirements. A report is sent to your DIRAUX for issuance of the Leadership Competency Certificate.
