As a new member, your Flotilla Commander (FC) may pair you up with a seasoned member of your flotilla as your New Member Mentor. This Auxiliarist will be your guide and will show you the ropes for about your first 3 months. Be proactive and request this if it has not been done soon after you join.
You can make a request to your Flotilla Commander, designee, or another senior member of your flotilla, to help you find potential mentors who would be a good match for your needs and interests. If one is not available to you in your flotilla or you would like to have an external Mentor as a secondary resource, your Flotilla Staff Officer for Member Training (FSO-MT) may be able to help you. Depending on your location, you may receive an invitation to join a new member group or class. These groups often include new members from different flotillas in your area. It's a great way to meet your peers and learn together.
More experienced Auxiliarists in the future will have the opportunity to join an exciting initiative that fosters connections for our Auxiliary workforce between units based on skills and experience, and expands leadership development. The program under development will suggest mentoring matches explicitly tailored to your individual needs and preferences. An announcement and a page update will be provided when Auxiliarists can participate in testing this program. Meanwhile, you can contact the Auxiliary Mentoring and Coaching Division at [email protected] with questions or suggestions.
