Knots

Grog Knots App - A great training tool to learn all about tying knots. Includes videos for proper tying of all knots, especially those for crew qualification!  It is free in the Apple App Store or at Grog Knots for PC.

Latitude / Longitude

When luck prevails, a distressed vessel operator may have a GPS, Compass, Chart and the Local Knowledge to provide SAR responders with accurate location information.

Should we get a Lat/Lon, it is prudent to be familiar with the different ways a Latitude and Longitude can be reported. Trying to make one format work for another will put us off the mark and waste valuable time.

Becoming a Vessel Examiner is a great way to promote recreational boating safety and expand your knowledge of boating, including paddlecraft, in the process. Here are the resources you need to become a VE or refresh your knowledge.

  2. Instruction on PWCs and Paddlecraft,

  4. Link to National Testing Center, including the practice tests that are a great help.
