DSO-OP Kenny Kent District 13
I see our job in the Coast Guard Auxiliary Surface Operations world as assisting the Coast Guard. We do that by operating personal vessels that meet CG standards in a way that reflects the CG methods, by following the methods learned during our qualification process. These standards are based a nationwide system of oversight and cooperation.
In addition to meeting the operating standards above, we provide real-life examples of “how it should be done” to the public. To do this, we always:
- Recognize the honor we share in serving the country and our community
- Wear our uniforms correctly (with pride)
- Respect each other and “the system” (in word and how we work)
- Are courteous (in word and how we operate)
- Are devoted to each other, the CG, and to the community - ready and willing to serve
- Help others (by showing and by doing)
The rest of this page is devoted to helping you – the men and women doing all those things. If you have ideas of how I can make this page more useful, please contact me.
Lastly, as I learn my way around the AUX digital world, I have been shown a tool box that may help those of you who are interested in compiling end of year reports. It’s called the sector tool box, here is a link: https://wow.uscgaux.info/content.php?unit=M-DEPT&category=mascot-1
If you know of a boat crew or coxswain that has done an especially good job in the
last week - let me know by email.

I have been asked, "What do I need to know to get boat crew or coxswain qualified"? Here is a link to the national website that lists many of the references, if you can hold all of this, you will be one smart puppy (rapidly approaching sea dog): https://wow.uscgaux.info/content.php?unit=R-DEPT&category=telecomms-documents
