District Emergency Management Staff Positions

Each Coast Guard Auxiliary District has an appointed district staff officer for emergency management (DSO-EM). The DSO-EM is responsible for overseeing the emergency management program within the district. The Auxiliary district commodore determines the mission parameters, which programs are conducted, and the reporting requirements to Auxiliary leadership. Emergency management staffing needs are based on factors unique to that district’s activities and challenges. There is no standardized administrative template applicable to all areas.

Some districts appoint assistant district staff officers for EM operations (ADSO-EM). These positions may manage specific geographical areas or emergency management programs.

Auxiliarists interested in serving as EM staff officers are encouraged to contact your local DSO-EM to discuss opportunities for becoming involved. Your district staff officer’s contact information may be found in AuxOfficer, the Coast Guard Auxiliary Directory.
