Color Guard Program Manager Norm Hoffman District 13

 What is the Auxiliary Color Guard Program?

The Color Guard program is conducted to enhance the Coast Guard and Auxiliary presence, interest, missions, recruiting, and activities by Auxiliary members who who have been properly trained in the requisite skills and the teamwork required to complete all requirements to serve on an Auxiliary Color Guard team.

Missions and Activities include:

1. Enhancing public awareness of the Coast Guard & Auxiliary
2. Instilling pride and patriotism in local communities
3. Promoting camaraderie among Auxiliary, Coast Guard, and Veterans
4. Providing ceremonial honors and respect at funerals or final rites for Coast Guard & Coast Guard Auxiliary members
5. Ceremonial presentation of funeral honors flags to next of kin at funerals or other appropriate occasions
6. Assisting with the ceremonial requirements of the Coast Guard and Auxiliary
7. Assisting with recruiting, fellowship, & retention
8. Honoring Veterans

9. Demonstration of teamwork by projecting professional Color Guard skills and appearance

  District 13 has Color Guards for the North, South, and East areas of operation.  All train together at District training meetings to standardize their presentations.  Each participates at public events i.e. Veterans and Memorial day events; Flotilla, Division, and District Change of watches; Auxiliary Memorial Services, and other special events to include assisting in Active Duty USCG events
