About Newport Harbor
Newport Harbor in Newport Beach, CA is the largest recreational boat harbor on the US west coast. It is home to over 10,000 vessels of all kinds and activities including sailing, rowing, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing and more. Newport Harbor is home to one of the most popular Christmas Boat Parades around. The boat parade itself may have begun in Newport Harbor in 1908 when a group of small boats were led by a gondola in a parade lit by Japanese lanterns.
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 6-1 makes it's home port in Newport Harbor and routinely patrols in and outside the harbor. Members do vessel safety checks, public education and public outreach, aids to navigation patrols and chart updates, recreational boating safety, and much more.
