Updated USCG District names

Renaming the Coast Guard Districts: Impact on the Auxiliary

 

On July 3, 2025 the Coast Guard announced that it will rename all operational districts to more familiar, geographic names, effective immediately.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary will follow suit and adopt similar nomenclature. District lines will not be redrawn, so all current geographic Auxiliary district and regional areas of responsibility (AOR) remain intact.

The new Auxiliary District names are as follows:

 

DTrain 2025 and Awards

DTrain 2025 is done and dusted and once again 10-13 needed a small truck to hall away all our awards for our service in 2024. For the details on that see our awards page here.

2025 Required Workshops

Per ALAUX 005/25 issued 24 an 2025

The Surface and Telecommunications Workshops are required for 2025. The Air Operations Workshop is a mandatory task included as part of the Air Station Safety Workshop.

Other workshops:

  • IT Workshop.  This workshop is strongly encouraged for all certified Instructors and those currently training to become Instructors, including members in Required Yearly Not Met (REYR) status who intend to regain their certification.   • The 2025 Sanitation workshop is recommended for all Auxiliary Culinary Assistance Specialists 1 and 2 (AUXCA-1/2) and those currently training for these competencies, including members in REYR status who intend to regain their certification.

Important

Per chapter 8.B.1.g of reference (a), all required workshops must be completed no later than 30 June 2024. If not completed by that date, members required to complete those workshops will have their affected competencies placed in Required Workshop Not Met (REWK) status. If the required workshop is not completed by 31 December 2025, the affected competencies will be placed in REYR status.

Changes from the National Board NTAIN 2024

The Coast Guard Auxiliary national board met at NTRAIN in March,  to discuss changes and updates to Auxiliary program, processes and activities.  This link is the full memo of those discussions and recommendations  ALAUX 013/24 from the office of the Chief Director of the Auxiliary in Washington, DC.

This email covers all the recommendations discussed.  Not all were approved by the National Board and some approved but the National Board were not fully approved by the CHDIRAUX

Here are the highlights of what was approved by both the Board and the Chief DIRAUX.  See the full ALAUX above for full details and these:.

  • Create a new Cybersecurity Directorate (Y-Directorate) at the National level
  • That the Auxiliary eliminate the Basic Qualification Course II and the Administrative Procedures Course as courses that meet eligibility requirements for elected office in favor of AFLC or AUXLAMS effective 01 Jan 2025 .
Of additional note there was a discussion of changing the color devices that currently have a Red A for appointed officers and a Blue A for elected to Blue for everyone.  This was NOT approved.
