Uniform Service Dress Blue circa 1960
Based on USN Uniform Regulations 1941
COAT - The coat shall be a double-breasted sack, cloth, serge, Palm Beach or similar light-weight material, double row of three gilt buttons, easy fitting, to be worn buttoned, using the three buttons on the right side. USCG Auxiliary gold Buttons
TROUSERS - The trousers shall be of conventional cut, cloth, serge, Palm Beach, or similar light-weight material. When wearing blue, the coat and trousers shall match in color and. be of the same material.
CAP - The combination cap frame shall be so constructed that a blue. cloth or plain white material cover may be fitted; it shall be stiff, standing, and flaring throughout its circumference to give the center edge of the cover a rolled or rounded effect, rather than having a thin edge.
SLEEVE Markings (Stripes):
To identify the wearer as an Auxiliarist, members initially wore a sewn gold embroidered patch U.S.C.G. arched over AUXILIARY on the sleeve. Next change was an embroidered gold Auxiliary Shield over horizontal bars representing office sewn on the right sleeve. Later this was replaced by silver sleeve lace going from sleeve seam to seam half way around the sleeve.

SHIRTS - Shirts shall be of plain white cotton or linen only.
Neck Wear-Neckties shall be plain black. A four-in-hand shall be worn with the frock and service coat, blue.
SHOES - Black shoes, high or low oxford, shall be laced, of black leather, and shall be worn when blue; trousers are prescribed.
SOCKS - Socks shall be plain knitted material undecorated.
Summary
This uniform was authorized for the USCG Auxiliary from the late 1940’s up to being replaced by the “Bender Blues” Service Dress Blue in 1975. During this period, it was subject to several changes based on changes with USCG Auxiliary insignia.
The Service Dress Blue Uniform depicted in the photographs folder represent the uniform of a “Past” District Staff Officer following the 1968 insignia changes. Note the Past Officer shield with Red A on both sleeves. Silver lace sewn half way around the sleeve.
