The International Affairs I-Directorate enhances global maritime safety and security by providing essential language services and fostering partnerships internationally. The I-Directorate consists of two distinct, but closely related, teams: the Interpreter Corps and International Outreach.

INTERPRETER CORPS

The Interpreter Corps supports the U.S. Coast Guard active duty and the Auxiliary by filling temporary active duty roles and providing language services to bridge communication gaps.
The Corps' 500 linguists offer interpretation and translation services in more than 50 languages to provide face-to-face communication, document translation, and remote support for operations, such as search & rescue (SAR), IUU fishing, and AMIO.

INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH
|
The International Outreach Division builds relationships with international volunteer organizations on behalf of the USCG and Department of Defense.
Engaged with 24 nations, IO aids in forming and growing volunteer maritime safety groups in order to contribute to global maritime security and emergency management.
