FEMA is hosting webinars to expand awareness and understanding of the newly released "COVID-19 Pandemic Operational Guidance for the 2020 Hurricane Season." FEMA released this guidance to help emergency managers and public health officials best prepare for disasters while continuing to respond to and recover from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Mass Care/Emergency Assistance Pandemic Planning Considerations guide provides information on sheltering, feeding, evacuation and the federal resource request process. This guidance was developed using health and safety planning information and requirements outlined by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

ALCOAST 124/20 provides important guidance for the entire Coast Guard Family and their families in following the CDC recommendations for wearing cloth face coverings both on and off duty.  See also the CDC FAQ on cloth face coverings. Update 1 was issued in ALCOAST 144/20 on April 17, 2020.
  

 

CHDIRAUX has issued a number of ALAUX messages related to Auxiliary activities during the COVID-19 response.  All members should be familiar with the content of these ALAUX messages.  Members might be particularly interested in FAQ's targeting Auxiliary members. 

Admiral Karl Schultz, Commandant of the Coast Guard and other senior leaders have released a series of video messages concerning COVID-19.

The Chief Director of Auxiliary, CHDIRAUX,  has released three ALAUX messages of interest to all Auxiliary members concerning the COVID-19 Event.

In the video below CAPT Samuel Philbrick, USAF, provides an overview of the COVID-19 problem. Using  with examples for one city in his area, CAPT Phillbrick explains how reducing the rate of infection or "flattening the curve" will reduce the mortality of COVID-19.

The Coast Guard's National Maritime Center has provided info on the impact of COVID-19 on its Mariner Credentialing Program.
