FSO Job Duties

FSO Job Descriptions

Learn what you will need to do if you accept an assignment as an FSO (Flotilla Staff Officer), or learn what these dedicated people are doing for us all!

FSO-CM - Communications Officer. The FSO-CM (Flotilla Staff Officer for Communications) is responsible for establishing and maintaining the flotilla's ability to communicate using radio and other communications methods. 

FSO-CS - Communications Services. The FSO-CS (Flotilla Staff Officer for Communications Services) is responsible for updating and maintaining the information available on the flotilla web site and other computer related resources. It's often easier to think of CS as Computer Services. 

FSO-DV - Diversity.  The FSO-DV (Flotilla Staff Officer for Diversity) works to ensure that the Auxiliary is open to everyone of every background and description. 

FSO-FN - Finance. The FSO-FN (Flotilla Staff Officer for Finance) is responsible for the flotilla's finances. Payments and collection of dues are only the beginning of what is involved in the financial responsibilities for the flotilla.  

FSO-HR - Human Resources.  The FSO-HR (Flotilla Staff Officer for Human Resources) helps new members get their applications completed, and get oriented in the Auxiliary. They also help existing members get needed assistance with paperwork and other requirements.

FSO-IS - Information Services. The FSO-IS (Flotilla Staff Officer for Information Systems) enters and maintains all records in the Aux database system, updates and ensures accuracy of that data, ensures proper credit is documented for Member activities, and tracks and reports on member certification and requalification requirements.

FSO- NS - Aids to Navigation Officer. The FSO-NS (Flotilla Staff Officer for Navigation Systems) is responsible for ensuring the verification and reporting of the condition of aids to navigation. These critical navigation aids are used for both general navigation and for marine safety, helping to prevent collisions and to help guide mariners to navigate safely.

FSO-OP - Operations. The FSO-OP (Flotilla Staff Officer for Operations) coordinates the on-the-water or in-the-air activities conducted by the flotilla. This includes Boat Crew operations and Air Crew operations as well.

FSO-PE - Public Education

FSO-PV - Program Visitor. The FSO-PV (Flotilla Staff Officer for Program Visitation) visits marine dealers and other organizations with involvement in boating activities and shares information, documents and flyers. The FSO-PV also encourages marine dealers with information about available public education and public affairs events. 

FSO-SR - Secretary of Records. The FSO-SR (Flotilla Staff Officer Secretary of Records) keeps records of flotilla meetings and important events and provides a history of flotilla records and other important paperwork.
