Welcome to the Flotilla 33-2, District 9WR Web Site

Join the Unites States Coast Guard Auxiliary

Used with permission

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a primary resource for recreational boating safety outreach and prevention, and each Coast Guard District around the nation has established a senior officer and staff to provide tight liaison and coordination between the active-duty Coast Guard and the various Auxiliary units in that District.

As part of Team Coast Guard the Auxiliary conducts safety patrols on Lake Michigan and local waterways, assists in Search and Rescue, teaches boating safety classes, conducts free vessel safety checks for the public, provides boating safety literature to dealers, and participates in many other activities related to recreational boating safety.

Auxiliary members train to become qualified communication Watchstanders, Vessel Examiners, Aviation Observers and Flight Crew, Boat Crew Members, and Culinary Assistants. We serve wherever the Coast Guard’s needs take us  - from shore stations to National Cutters.

Membership in the Auxiliary is open to U.S. citizens age 17 years and older. We are organized into 16 districts nationwide, which are comprised of 171 divisions and nearly 980 flotillas. No matter where you live, there is a flotilla near you.

Find the unit nearest your Zip Code by clicking on "Units" at the top of this page. And for dozens of reasons why you should join, visit "Recruiting."

You are welcome to attend one of our meetings to learn more about the Coast Guard and the Auxiliary.

Our regular administrative meetings are the 3rd Sat of each month 9:00 AM Central time at Coast Guard Station Michigan City.  Please contact us during a Flotilla meeting or call one of our leaders if you are interested in joining us in our mission!
