Subj:   CHANGE TO AUXOP ELECTIVE COURSES - xx3/13
1. Effective January 1, 2014, all National Incident Management System (NIMS)-compliant Incident Command System (ICS)-300 and ICS-400 courses will be acceptable for credit toward earning the Operational Auxiliarist (AUXOP) device. NIMS compliancy is established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). NIMS-compliant ICS courses may only be taught by instructors, Coast Guard or other agency, that are certified to teach them.

2. Section 8.C.1.c.(6) of the Auxiliary Manual (COMDTINST M16790.1 (series)) shall read, "National Incident Management System (NIMS)-compliant Incident Command System (ICS) 300 and 400 (ICS-210 cannot be used as a substitute) - 1 credit."

3. On January 1, 2014, AUXDATA will reflect this change and allow the recording of successful completion of any NIMS-compliant ICS-300 and ICS-400 courses.

4. This change shall be institutionalized in the next change to the Auxiliary Manual.
