We hope you enjoy your visit to our website. To the left, you will find information on boating courses, Huntsville area weather conditions, boating courses and other safety information.
WHO WE ARE: The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is a civilian, volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard. Our primary task is to carry out Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) functions. Auxiliary members perform vessel examinations, conduct boating safety courses, and perform public outreach at local events. Auxiliarists also perform vital Coast Guard support missions, such as performing safety patrols on local waterways, standing radio watch, and maintaining Auxiliary websites.
VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS: A key component of our mission is performing vessel safety checks. VSCs are provided free of charge, and help to ensure that your boat is in compliance with federal standards. Depending on the size of your boat, a check takes 15 to 30 minutes, but could very well save you a lot of trouble - and more importantly - your life. You may also get a discount on your vessel insurance! We do not issue citations if a vessel doesn't pass inspection. However, you may be subject to fines if you are stopped and inspected by state or federal law enforcement. If you would like to receive a free vessel safety check, contact Darin Bashaw, [email protected], or fill out the form at this link.
JOIN THE AUXILIARY! We are always seeking new members to help us carry out our mission. Membership is open to any U.S. citizen, 17 years of age or older, with a clean criminal record. Interested in joining a world-class organization and helping to keep our waterways safe? Contact Edward Linebaugh, our FSO-HR, at [email protected], or follow this link: Join the Auxiliary
