Great Reasons to Join Us at Flotilla 17-6.

Flotilla 17-6 is the primary Coast Guard presence on central Brevard County's Indian and Banana Rivers. We have sister flotillas in South Brevard (17-2), Titusville (17-9), Osceola County (17-10), and Orlando Winter Park (17-11).

Our 2017 service included over 16,000 hours of USCG operational support from our 84 volunteer members who are professionally trained to USCG standards. We have 9 boats and 1 aircraft that are certified as USCG patrol facilities. There are also 3 radio facilities.

Our services in and around Brevard County include:

Monthly recreational boating safety (RBS) classes are offered at the IMOC/Sheriff's Annex at 660 Magellan Rd on the north side of Port Canaveral just off Grouper Rd. The cost is $40 (free for Auxiliary members). This course is required by Florida state law for boaters born after 1988. Graduates earn a Florida State Boater's ID. More information about our RBS classes can be found here.

Flotilla 17-6 provides free professional Coast Guard training to active Auxiliary members. The courses include boat crew, air crew, coxswain, vessel examinations, maritime communications, weather, navigation, planning and incident command, Coast Guard leadership and management, along with other useful maritime-related courses. Members earn Coast Guard and Auxiliary awards. Veterans may also wear their prior service military decorations.

Flotilla 17-6 meets from 6pm to 9pm on the second Tuesday of each month (except December) at the Veterans Memorial Center at 400 S Sykes Creek Pkwy in Merritt Island. Prospective members and the general public are welcome.

We look forward to seeing you!
