The Coast Guard Auxiliary Marine Safety program is designed to facilitate and encourage Auxiliary support for the U.S. Coast Guard in legacy Marine Safety and Environmental Protection Programs. Protecting marine life is a companion mission to safe boating. Flotilla 17-6 is involved in many marine safety projects around the Space Coast including lagoon water quality testing, horseshoe crab surveying, and sea turtle preservation along with educational outreach to members of the public in all age groups.
