FELLOWSHIP FLOTILLA 67

Enjoy!

Dear Flotilla 67 Shipmates,

The MerriamWebster online dictionary defines a fellowship as 'a community of interest, activity, feeling, or experience” and “a company of equals or friends.

Our Flotilla is designed to be a fellowship—not just a group of volunteers, but a family of brothers and sisters who share ideas, knowledge and responsibilities. We are accountable to each other.

Zoltan (Zollie) Sarry was a Past Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 67. Zollie was stricken with incurable cancer. He was only in his early fifties. Zoltan was a great leader, exceptional Coxswain, instructor, vessel examiner, and mentor. Besides giving blood, members from Flotilla 67 took turns taking him for treatments to doctors and hospitals. We took off from work in order to transport Zollie to his appointments.

Bob Walters was a Past Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 67. Bob was a retired US Air Force Colonel. Bob served this country in WW ll, Korea, and Viet Nam. When Bob “crossed the bar”, Flotilla 67 had an Honor Guard, in dress uniform, stand next to the draped coffin, ceremoniously folded the flag and presented it to Clara Walters, his wife.

Ray Gigon was a Past Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 67. Ray’s wife Charlene became terminally ill and spent months in the hospital. Ray and Charlene had two young children. The younger child had cerebral palsy. Ray had a lawn mower repair business in South Dade. When Ray visited the hospital to see Charlene, members of Flotilla 67 or their spouses took care of the children. We also took care of his business while he was gone.

On the lighter side, we have had weekly raft ups, quarterly rendezvous, fishing tournaments, fish fries, and Bahama vacations. If we were not on patrol, we were still on the water.

Fellowship is positive chemistry between shipmates. Never let that chemistry leave the Flotilla.
