Who We Are

The Coast Guard's philosophy is to be SEMPER PARATUS (ALWAYS READY) against all threats and all hazards. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is an integral part of that philosophy and the Coast Guard Forces. We conduct safety patrols on local waterways, assist the Coast Guard with Homeland Security duties, teach boating safety classes, conduct free vessel safety checks for recreational boat owners, as well as many other activities. The Auxiliary has members in all 50 States including Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa and Guam.

Our Vision

As a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard and servant to the general public, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is a designated National Recreational Boating Safety Coordinator whose responsibilities includes the promotion of waterway safety within the recreational boat ownership community. We functions as committed boating safety leaders focused on improving boating experiences for boat owners, and protectors of other public waterway users. We are an organization noted for working in partnership with all stakeholders within the waterways activity spectrum and across all modes of transportation to reach consensus solutions. Our safety coordinator/public education training successes are determined by decreases in waterway incidents and increases in life safety.

Our Mission

To minimize death, personal injuries, property loss, and damages associated with recreational boats/watercrafts operating in marine environments. As well as, maximize the probability of survival and rescue of persons if abandonment of a boat/watercraft becomes necessary.
