Thank you for your interest in joining the USCG Auxiliary. Below is some basic information about the USCG Auxiliary in general and it's membership requirements.

First off, to tell you a little about the Auxiliary. The USCG Auxiliary is the uniformed volunteer component of "Team Coast Guard". The collective Team Coast Guard, which is comprised of the US Coast Guard active duty, US Coast Guard reserve and the USCG Auxiliary, together complete the missions you associate with the Coast Guard. Auxiliary personnel participate in almost all Coast Guard missions with the exception of law enforcement and military actions. In our area, the Auxiliary's principal activities are comprised of various interactions with the recreational boater community thru activities promoting both boating safety and education in addition to seasonal surface and air operational activity. In addition, many members who are in proximity to Coast Guard facilities perform many other functions to assist Team Coast Guard.

All members are volunteers and offer their services freely to help that mission. The time commitment is controlled by you. The Auxiliary can benefit from whatever your personal schedule permits and is flexible to the changing priorities of your family, work and other activities. One's involvement is only limited by one's willingness, training and the local need.

Here is general membership info on the Auxiliary today.

The following are the basic requirements for membership in the USCG Auxiliary:
•You must be a U.S. citizen.
•You must be at least 17 years of age. (If you are 17, you'll need parental consent.)
•You must attend a New Member training session(s) that will last about 4 to 5 hours and at the end you must pass a simple 30 question open book multiple choice exam on the material presented during the training session.
And lastly, you will be fingerprinted and photographed in order to perform a security clearance check and criminal record review.
