Recent Boating Regulation Changes:
Education Requirements for Boat Operators
Motor boat operators born on or after January 1, 1983 will need a Boating Safety Certificate in 2023 to operate in New York State waters.
All operators of motorized vessels, regardless of age will need a boating safety certificate by January 1, 2025. Safe Boating Class Schedule
Engine Cut Off Switch (ECOS)
Motorboat operators must use the "kill" switch on motorboats under 26 feet, that have or are supposed to have them.
