We cover a lot of information during the class, so we have created a space here where you can go back to reference some of the material we discussed in class

The USCG Local Notices to Mariners is updated weekly and is available for download in Portable Document File (PDF) Format. You may download it for free.  This link with take you to the national page.  Click the map to find the information about the area you're looking for.  We're in Coast Guard District 1.

The United States Coast Pilot® consists of a series of nautical books that cover a variety of information important to navigators of coastal and intracoastal waters and the Great Lakes. Issued in nine volumes, they contain supplemental information that is difficult to portray on a nautical chart.  Use the map on the home page to select the part of the country you're interested in.

The Official Coast Guard float plan form. Complete this plan before you go boating and leave it with a reliable person, who can be depended upon to notify the Coast Guard, or other rescue agency, should you not return or check-in as planned.

The Coast Guard App.  Features of the app include: state boating information; a safety equipment checklist; free boating safety check requests; navigation rules; float plans; and calling features to report pollution or suspicious activity.

U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Rules and Regulations Handbook -  Boats > 12 meters must have a copy readily available on-board.  Electronic versions acceptable, but must be accessible within two minutes.  Look for the "Download the Handbook" link.
