WEEKEND NAVIGATOR  will be taught VIA ZOOM

Weekend Navigator is an interactive, Zoom-based course that is designed to teach you how to navigate safely, primarily by using today's technology. You will use the popular "Navionics" mobile app on your tablet (best) or smartphone as an active learning tool. We'll start with basics like: latitude/longitude, what the colors & symbols on the charts/maps mean, the use of SOG & COG, etc. You will practice electronic charting - including the all-important creation of routes - on the app. The app can then serve as a back-up to your boat's marine chartplotter (GPS).

Then we move to topics, such as: Rules of the Road, Depth Sounder; Autopilot; AIS; Marine Weather Forecasts; How to Use Your Radar; Understanding how the Tides and Currents of the Pacific NW affect your trip planning, as well as where to find the data.
