“For this month's Partner spotlight we would like to recognize Mr. Tracy Schultz, an Admissions Partner from Monterey Bay, CA. Tracy's enthusiasm and passion for volunteerism are unmatched and we are so grateful to have such a positive person on our Admissions Partner team, BZ!
How long have you been
involved as an Admissions Partner?
7 great years
What is your
affiliation with the U.S. Coast Guard Academy?
I volunteer with the
USCG Auxiliary, assist in the AIM program and attended a military college.
What motivates you to
volunteer as an Admissions Partner?
Everything…the students, the cadets, the active duty, the staff, the instructors, the support
help, the volunteers, the mission, the grounds, etc. The legacy of those who have come before and those that will come in the future. Everything. The opportunity to assist and make a worthwhile
difference is ever present.
The Academy is an incredibly special and dynamic campus. The grounds feel magical.
The friendships forged with special men and women like Carol and John Johnson, Jim Losi (BOT), Tamara, Alex, Megan, Taylor, Jason, and on and on; is very special and fulfilling.
Many staff, cadets, parents and active duty keep in touch after initially interacting. Assisting a young person in their quest to receive an appointment and to be a small part of that tremendous effort and accomplishment is phenomenally rewarding.
The entire Academy, from the top down, provides many spectacular opportunities and indescribable intrinsic satisfaction with the chance to make even the smallest of positive differences in the great history of the USCG.
What is your personal
goal as an Admissions Partner?
To continue to strive to make a positive and professional difference and give my very best to
everyone with whom I interact with on behalf of the Academy and the USCG.
Name a hometown hidden
gem:
I live in Moss Landing
which is at the heart of the Monterey Bay in California. Its total population is 204. Its hidden gem is its natural beauty. Not to mention that the sea otters carry cameras and take pictures of the tourists! :)
Favorite movie?
Retreat Hell (about U.S. Marines during the Korean War)
Favorite book?
To Hell and Back (The Audie Murphy Story)
Desert island food?
Chocolate.
What is one of your
favorite experiences as an Admissions Partner?
Without a doubt it is
the exhausting and yet wonderfully rewarding opportunity and privilege to work with
the AIM program and the friendships that have developed.”
