An annual Vessel Safety Check for your boat or paddle craft is an essential part of owning or operating a safe and properly equipped vessel meeting all Federal and Florida State requirements.

A list of recreational vessel size-specific safety equipment is available through the FWC website.

The Ocean Reef Coast Guard Auxiliary has five experienced Vessel Examiners and offers Safety Checks at your boat on your schedule. A Safety Check is an opportunity for a conversation aboard your boat about safety equipment and best boating practices.

There is no cost, and no penalty for failure. A Vessel Check takes as little as 30 minutes, and upon completion your vessel is awarded a decal for the current year indicating that all requirements have been met at the time of the check.
