Vessel Safety Check Exam
When you are ready to take the online Vessel Examiner exam at http://ntc.cgaux.org/. This is an open book exam and you will get your results as soon as you complete the exam. You can retake this exam as many times as you need if you don't pass it the first time around. This online exam has 30 questions with a three hour time limit and the passing score is 90%. The exam has multiple choice questions with four possible answers; however, only one answer is the best answer.
Supervised Vessel Examination
Once you successfully pass the online Vessel Examiner Exam, you will need to reach out to your flotilla Member Training or Vessel Examiner staff officers, to aid you in locating a current/qualified Vessel Examiner to assist you in the next step of the process. You then will need to complete five (5) supervised Vessel Safety Checks using the ANSC 7012 under the watchful eye of a qualified Vessel Examiner.
After that your VE qualification will be entered into AUX Data II and then you can start doing vessel exams on your own.

Use Avery.com to design your card and either print it yourself or have them print it.
- Download the VE-Business-Card.avery file from VE design file on Google Drive. Remember where on you computer you downloaded it.
- Go to Avery.com and create an account to use their design and print.
- On the projects page use the Upload a .avery file to upload the file you downloaded in step one.
- You can then edit the card to enter your information.
- Once your information is in either you can save a PDF to print on your own using Avery #5371 or similar business card forms.
- Or you can use Avery's WePrint service to have them print it for you (About $30 with shipping for 250 cards).
