Boating Education Certification Courses

Boating America Certificate SampleNorth Carolina law requires any person born on or after January 1, 1988, who will be operating a vessel over 10 hp to pass a boater safety course and to carry a boater education certification card.


Boat America Course, NASBLA/Coast Guard Approved Boating Education Certification Course.

2025 remaining classes:
Saturdays, October 11, and November 15

2026 Classes:
Saturdays, unless otherwise marked: January 17, February 21, March 21, April 18, May 16, June 20, July 9 (Thurs), July 23 (Thurs), September 19, October 17, and November 14.

Cost:  $40 per person.  $65 per 2-family members who will share a textbook. Age 16 or under only $10!  Please bring your own lunch.  Beverage machine available on-site.
No fee for USCG or USCG Auxiliary 20-02 members and their immediate families.

These one day courses will take place at Carteret Community College, MARTEC Building, 1st Floor, Morehead City from 8:00am-2:00pm.  There is plenty of free parking. 

Please bring cash or check to pay upon your early arrival at the door.

Where instruction was known, 77% of deaths occurred on boats where the operator did not receive boating safety instruction. Only 12% percent of deaths occurred on vessels where the operator was known to have received a nationally-approved boating safety education certificate.
