Welcome to the official guide for the USCG Auxiliary Flotilla American Samoa uniforms. As members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, it is our duty to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and uniformity. Our uniforms are a symbol of our commitment, discipline, and unity in serving the maritime community. This guide provides comprehensive information on the different types of uniforms required for various duties, and how to purchase them. Operational Dress Uniform (ODU)

The ODU is the cornerstone of the USCG Auxiliary's operational attire. Designed for durability and functionality, the ODU ensures that members are ready for the demands of their duties. Whether you are participating in patrols, training exercises, or other operational activities, the ODU provides the comfort and flexibility needed to perform effectively.

Read this Auxiliary Manual before placing an order. You must first set up an account to order uniforms from the Coast Guard Exchange (CGX). There are other Auxiliary specific items are not available from the CGX and must be ordered from the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association (CGAuxA). All new customers can create an account here.

Note: Shoes from non-Coast Guard sources are generally acceptable if they meet the following criteria:

-- Shoes shall be well-blackened and shined, 6-inch, 8-inch, or 10-inch safety boots. Excess laces shall be tucked away so they cannot be seen. Safety boots shall be prescribed and worn whenever the nature of the work requires foot protection.
-- The boat shoe, (dark blue or brown leather, low cut of moccasin type construction with functional rawhide lacing, brass eyelets, and non-marking sole) is an authorized option for Auxiliarists when wearing the ODU or CGWU (regular or hot weather version).
-- All white or black or all dark/navy blue, low top, athletic shoes with nonskid/non-marking soles are also authorized for Auxiliarists.

Tropical Blue Uniform (TROPS)

The TROPS is ideal for formal and semi-formal occasions in warmer climates. It offers a balance between comfort and a polished appearance, making it suitable for a wide range of official functions, including ceremonies, meetings, and public engagements.

Please read the section in the Auxiliary Manual starting on page 10-67 (male) and page 10-98 (female) before placing an order. Note: Shoes from non-Coast Guard sources are generally acceptable if they meet the following criteria:

-- The men's dress shoe is made of smooth black leather of the lace-up plain oxford style. The heels are no higher than one inch, and the shoe is a low-cut plain style without decoration. There is no stitching or seams across the toe. The sole edges, heels, and laces are the same color as the shoe.
-- The women's standard issue dress shoe is made of smooth black leather of the lace-up plain oxford style.  The heels are no higher than one inch.  The sole edges, heels, and laces are the same color (black) as the shoe.

Auxiliary Working Uniform (AWU)

The AWU is designed for practicality and durability during hands-on tasks and missions. This uniform is ideal for members engaged in activities that require a rugged and functional attire, such as vessel inspections, maintenance, and training exercises. Alternatively, the AWUPP (Auxiliary Working Uniform Procurement Program) is a USCG Auxiliary initiative that ensures members have access to the required AWUs. It simplifies the procurement process, ensuring uniformity and compliance with USCG standards, and supports members in their operational roles within the organization.

✅Where to Purchase AWU:

The Alternative Working Uniform Pilot Program (AWUPP) is being conducted in the 1st Southern and 8th Coastal Regions of the USCG AUX from 1 OCT 2021, through 31 DEC 2022. The Program’s purpose is to introduce the new Alternative Working Uniform that any members may opt to wear instead of ODUs or the Coast Guard CGU being rolled out over the next two years to active duty. Even if the AWU is not adopted at the end of the pilot program, Auxiliarists will still be able to wear it as long as it is serviceable.

If this uniform is adopted, the process will become much easier. But now, we have to order from three different sources.

You must first set up an account to order uniforms from the Coast Guard Exchange (CGX). Order the belt and buckle from the Coast Guard Exchange (Recently listed as "Out of Stock.") This belt can be found at Rothco. This same item is also available on Amazon Prime without the $8.99 shipping fee.
 
There are other Auxiliary specific items are not available from the CGX and must be ordered from the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association (CGAuxA). All new customers can create an account here.

The Auxiliary Standard Ball Cap also requires a "Member Collar Insignia" from the AuxA to be worn on the hat (not required on the Boonie/Tilly Cap)

Blue Blazer

The USCG Auxiliary blue blazer uniform is formal attire for ceremonial and official functions. It includes a navy-blue blazer with the Auxiliary emblem, a white dress shirt, black tie, and gray trousers or skirt. A combination cover or garrison cap may also be worn. This uniform embodies the professionalism and dedication of Auxiliary members as they support Coast Guard missions through volunteer activities like public education, vessel safety checks, and operational support. It is accepted by the Flotilla 140-03-28 American Samoa as the alternate uniform for TROPS for new members attending trainings and meetings.
