Qualification - TeleComms Specialist

AUXILIARY radio telecommunications programs result in qualified telecommunications operators, communications "watchstanders", and an unstructured network of Coast Guard-approved fixed land, mobile, and direction-finding radion stations or "facilities" that can placed into service quickly in service of the Auxiliary, the Coast Guard, or the nation.

PROCESS: To become an Auxiliary telecomunications operator (TCO), first speak with your Mentor and your Flotilla Staff Officer Comunications (FSO-COM). Then sign up with the FSO-MT. You would then take the Auxiliary Communications Specialty course (AUXCOM). It focuses on radio communications for the Auxiliary and Coast Guard, providing extensive information of the fundamental principles underlying communications systems in use by both the Coast Guard and the Auxiliary.
