The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary plays a vital part of the boating safety network. We are dedicated to promoting safe boating practices and assisting the Coast Guard in its mission to save lives and protect property. We achieve this through a variety of activities, including Vessel Safety Checks, boating education courses, and public outreach programs. Our trained members are passionate about boating and the safety of our Ossining boating community.

The Auxiliary is proud to offer Boating Safety Courses that meet the requirements for all recreational vessel operators born on or after May 1, 1996, in New York State. This mandatory instruction for vessel operators ensures that all boaters have a basic understanding of boating safety principles, as required by NY State law. Our courses cover topics such as safe operation of a vessel, navigation rules, weather awareness, and emergency procedures. Upon completion of the course, boaters will receive a certificate of completion, which must be presented to the DMV when applying for a New York State boating license, or be available for presentation during a law enforcement boarding.
