Team Coordination Training Refresher / Risk Management (TCT/RM) - Mike O’Connor:
Learn to recognize risk and how to manage it to enjoy a safe boating season.
Outline of the Boat Crew Qualification Program - Richard Rothamel:
Learn how to begin the Boat Crew Qualification Program from beginning member to qualified boat crew/coxswain status
AUX Core Training Courses (AUXCORE) - Alec Travieso & Wayne Tang:
This class will cover the required AUXCT courses, which must be completed by all new members and by all members annually, every 5 years.
PPE Management (RS) - CWO Jason Grimm & Peter Talamo:
An introduction to the new SO-RS and FSO-RS positions developed for the inspection, issuance, and administration of Rescue and Survival Equipment to support CG Auxiliary Programs on or near water safely.
Emergency Management Table Top Exercise (EM) - Gil Breit:
An informal, open discussion of a basic Tabletop Exercise focusing on potential Auxiliary roles and responsibilities given a particular hurricane-based scenario. This Tabletop Exercise is designed as a collaborative, no-fault learning environment in which participants contribute their input and understanding to a dialogue based on a simulated severe weather event. The exercise is open to all members, but those serving as elected leaders and operations officers at all levels are especially encouraged to attend.
Introduction to Auxiliary Leadership - Wesley L. Doody:
Learn about the new 2025 requirements to hold elected office. Additionally, we will discuss why one wants to become a leader and the benefits to be derived from it.
Instructor Workshop 2025 (IT) - Jacqueline Doody:
This presentation covers the new updated Instructor Workshop covering best instructor practices and how to hold public education classes.
Vessel Examinations Workshop (VE) - Stephen Rosario:
The updated annual workshop is recommended for all Vessel Examiners & Trainees and will cover new. VSC requirements for vessels and paddle craft.
Introduction to Chart Plotting and Basic Navigation - Mike Gabriel:
This session will introduce you to piloting basics. Starting with Latitude & Longitude, it will continue with the use of piloting tools and aids, and then progress to charts and introductory piloting. Members are encouraged to bring their own piloting tools if available.
Introduction to AUXDATA Basics - Maribel Rivera:
Learn where to find AUXDATA and how to get a password to log in to the system. You will also learn how to submit your hours and how to review recorded time. This information is essential for all members of the Auxiliary.
Program Visitor Workshop (PV) - Miguel Minervini:
Annual Workshop from National V-Directorate covering best practices for Program visitors and trainees looking to get qualified.
Surface Operations Workshop (OPS) - Commodore Michael West:
This workshop is required for all boat crew coxswains, boat crew members, personal watercraft operators, paddle craft operators, and those currently training for any of these competencies, including members in Required Yearly Not Met (REYR) status who intend to regain their certification. Required workshops must be completed no later than 30 June 2025.
Intro to Unmanned Aerial Systems Program (AUXUAS) - Sandro Sherrod:
Learn how short-range unmanned aircraft systems (SR-UAS) can be effectively used to enhance marine safety, verify aids to navigation, and support search and rescue operations. This session will cover the requirements for obtaining an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, and provide an overview of Coast Guard aviation policies and procedures. The session will highlight the path to becoming qualified to support a local active duty unit, equipping you to make a tangible impact in your community.
Ceremonial Color Guard (AUXCCG) - José Peña:
This program is designed to enhance Coast Guard and Auxiliary missions and activities through Color Guards comprised of Auxiliarists who possess requisite skills and successfully meet established qualification criteria identified in PQS. Students who can demonstrate the skills will have tasks signed off during the class.
Introduction to AUXPAD - Lissette Grunwell & Christine Howe:
This session will introduce the components of the Auxiliary Paddle craft Safety (AUXPAD) Program being adopted in D1SR. We will present a basic description of the AUXPAD Ashore Outreach Program and describe the training that will enable you to better promote paddle craft safety during vessel exams (VE), program visits (PV), public education (PE), and public affairs (PA) missions.
Telecommunications (TCO) – Andy Ely:
This workshop is required for all operators and owners of Auxiliary Radio Facilities. It is strongly recommended for those currently holding a Telecommunications Operator (TCO) certification, or in training for TCO qualification, and for those who are using AUXCOM as their “grandfathered” qualification for radio operation. This does not apply to the operation of radios on aircraft or vessels, which are covered by crew certification.
