      Public Affairs is very active in “community outreach”. For example, PA coordinates table displays at boat shows, yacht clubs, marinas and outdoor retail stores. A vital part of community outreach is appearing before civic and community organizations, the public library and chamber of commerce. Presentations cover USCGAUX operations and a variety of educational classes for boaters. Your PA staff schedules these events and coordinates staffing and presentations.

      One of the largest area of responsibilities is coordinating the Wiggins Pass Flotilla’s participation in National Safe Boating Week. NSBW routinely occurs in mid-May each year and starts with an “Open House” at Station Fort Myers, followed by other safe boating awareness programs daily throughout the week all over the area served by our Wiggins Pass Flotilla. Your PA team coordinates our annual display at the Station Fort Myers Coast Guard Open House and, your PA Team coordinates all other activities during NSBW. We utilize as many members of the Flotilla as possible to effectively staff all of the events planned.

      Public Affairs is very active. More and more events are being identified. 

      It’s all about putting educational boating materials in the hands of the boater, being available to answer questions, and promoting safe boating to a variety of constituencies throughout SWFL!
