Return to Flotilla 13-4's Home Page.
There are currently five accredited instructors within our Flotilla. We strive to make every class interesting, enjoyable and relevant with current information about local marine conditions and policies.
The classes currently being taught are:
- The USCG Auxiliary's Boat America course on responsible boating, approved by NASBLA (National Association of Boating Law Administrators)
- Suddenly In Command
Additional classes may be added as resources grow.
Both curriculums are taught regularly with dates advertised in the Ocean Reef Press and around The Reef. In addition, small group instruction can be arranged at mutually convenient times.
Our Flotilla partners with local organizations such as the Lucy Fernandez Foundation to teach courses beyond our community. We impact the boating futures of many school and college age students.
The Auxiliary's Boat America course is recognized by Florida and many other states, as it is endorsed by the national agency responsible for course uniformity throughout the country. Many states now require this course for anyone operating a vessel. Check license requirements for any state here. When you complete this training with us you will receive a proof of completion electronically or mailed to you.
Public education courses are offered nationwide by the Coast Guard Auxiliary in virtual and classroom settings. Search for classes by ZIP Code.
