Michael Anthony DiPierro, FSO-OP (Operations)

Welcome to Flotilla 96 Operations. As FSO-OP, my responsibility is to manage and organize our on-water activities and work closely with Member Training [FSO-MT] Tom Sawyer, to coordinate new members into the Team. This includes aspiring Coxswains, Crew, Watchstanders, and ATON Verifiers.

We have a very active and enthusiastic group of participants who enjoy the on-water activities of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In Operations, we interact directly with the boating public on the water throughout our Area of Responsibility [AOR] from Clam Pass – essentially Pine Ridge Road – to Matanzas Pass – approximately Alico Road, all the waters inland to three miles off shore. If you are interested in participating in these activities, there are numerous paths to follow: joining the crew candidate group to learn the basics to become an on-water Team Member in the Crew Program; learning how to operate our radios – TCO Watchstanders - in support of our on-water patrols; and assisting with maintaining and inspecting our operational gear – R&SS Officers. This year will be very busy with the continued training of new Crew candidates and Coxswain candidates. We welcome everyone to find a place in the Team to participate in whatever capacity feels right for your skill level and interests. Please call, write or otherwise contact me at your convenience. I intend to be at the Flotilla most Wednesday mornings during the winter months for open discussions and to answer questions which might arise.

Sincerely,

Michael A. DiPierro FSO-OP
